What you need
A compatible camera or recorder, a supported app and an internet connection at the property are normally needed. Live viewing and playback features vary by product.
What the connection affects
Upload speed at the property affects how much video can be sent to your phone. Lower-resolution preview streams can help when the connection is limited while the recorder stores a higher-quality image locally.
Keep access controlled
Use strong unique passwords and two-step verification where available. Keep software updated, remove access when it is no longer needed and avoid sharing a single administrator account with everyone.
Ask for a proper demonstration
During handover, practise finding an event, switching cameras and playing recordings. Confirm who owns the account and how supported password recovery works. Never send passwords through an enquiry form.
Make it specific to your property
Set up remote viewing with Borders CCTV. We serve towns and rural properties across the Scottish Borders. A conversation about your site is the next step towards a useful specification.
