What is an IP CCTV system?
An IP camera sends digital video over a network to a compatible recorder or recording service. The system can combine cameras with different lenses and capabilities to suit individual views.
PoE means Power over Ethernet. Compatible equipment supplies power and data through the same network cable, reducing the need for a separate power supply beside each camera.
Who is it for?
IP and PoE systems suit many permanent installations, from home entrances to business premises and farm buildings. They are particularly useful when dependable local recording and multiple camera views matter.
Plan the whole connection
The camera, cable, PoE power supply, switch and recorder must work together. We consider cable routes, power budgets and recorder compatibility rather than choosing each item in isolation.
Long distances and detached buildings need specific planning. A suitable network link or fibre connection may be more appropriate than stretching an ordinary camera cable beyond its intended use.
Detail that earns its place
Resolution is one factor in useful footage. Lens choice, subject distance, lighting, shutter settings and compression also matter. We plan the image around whether you need an overview or useful identification detail.

Questions about this service
Are PoE cameras better than Wi-Fi cameras?
PoE often suits permanent installations because one network cable carries power and data, without depending on a wireless signal. Wi-Fi can help where cabling is difficult, but still needs power and a reliable connection.
Can CCTV work without Wi-Fi?
Yes. Wired PoE cameras carry power and video over network cable. They can record to a local NVR without Wi-Fi or internet. An internet connection is needed for remote viewing away from the property.
Does CCTV work at night?
Suitable cameras can record using infrared or low-light technology. The right choice depends on available light, viewing distance and the level of detail needed. We assess the actual scene rather than relying on a headline night-vision range.
